http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/05/yes-another-man-is-climbing-times-building/

here’s what i had to deal with during my walk home from work today.

i don’t understand the first guy and his global warming banner… it seems counterintuitive to post it on THIS building, which was newly built to be a green structure. had the second guy also planned this, or was he a copycat?

also, when you look at the building and the ceramic rods, you can’t help but think that it was just a matter of time. those rods were a perfect ladder straight to the roof.

“I love New York because we order pizza from the Italian place across the street and have our laundry delivered. We take a taxi to the gym. We know exactly what we want out of life and careers, but can’t decide where to eat brunch. We make plans and don’t keep any of them. We think a studio for $1,500 a month is a steal, but get pissed when the coffee guy raises his prices 25 cents. We fight with cabbies about their driving skills, but we are 35 and have never had a driver’s license.”

Starbucks may have “put an entire adult population through Coffee University,” as the restaurateur Danny Meyer recently said. But third-wave coffee shops — and their cuppings — are the graduate schools.

1. Accelerating and braking When leaving a station, it is best to jam forward the drive shaft for a split second and then pull it back immediately. This is how we alert our riders that the train is leaving the station: with a violent, sudden jerk forward.

most of these are in NYC, which is completely unsurprising to me.  i mean, i know that the mcdonalds across from the nederlander is insane, and the whole foods in columbus circle, and the barnes and noble in union square is enormous.

i would probably support bloomberg if he was a legit candidate, but i think that independents just pull votes away from the republican and democratic nominees. i’m glad he’s not running.

i love improv everywhere. their pranks are so funny and i think it’s great that they don’t harm anyone in the process. my favorite is the cell phone symphony in manhattan’s strand bookstore.

well, now this is just encouraging europeans and could result in an increase in the gap between the dollar and the euro.
