OBAMA The problem is we can’t appear angry. Bush called us the angry left. Did you see anyone in Denver who was angry?
BARTLET Well … let me think. …We went to war against the wrong country, Osama bin Laden just celebrated his seventh anniversary of not being caught either dead or alive, my family’s less safe than it was eight years ago, we’ve lost trillions of dollars, millions of jobs, thousands of lives and we lost an entire city due to bad weather. So, you know … I’m a little angry.

Two Men Climb the 52-Story NY Times Building June 5, 2008
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/05/yes-another-man-is-climbing-times-building/
here’s what i had to deal with during my walk home from work today.
i don’t understand the first guy and his global warming banner… it seems counterintuitive to post it on THIS building, which was newly built to be a green structure. had the second guy also planned this, or was he a copycat?
also, when you look at the building and the ceramic rods, you can’t help but think that it was just a matter of time. those rods were a perfect ladder straight to the roof.
Do I Detect A Hint of… Joe? May 29, 2008
Starbucks may have “put an entire adult population through Coffee University,” as the restaurateur Danny Meyer recently said. But third-wave coffee shops — and their cuppings — are the graduate schools.
On The Trail, One Aide Looms Over Obama May 27, 2008
When Mr. Obama dropped food on his tie while eating in the car between stops, Mr. Love was ready with a Tide pen. He always carries one, along with ballpoint pens, and has turned himself into a walking dispensary of Sharpies, stationery, protein bars, throat lozenges, water, tea, Advil, Tylenol, Purell and emergency Nicorette, not to mention his ever-present iPhone, BlackBerry and Canon Rebel XT digital camera.

Hard Times, but Your Lips Look Great: Lipstick May Be An Economic Indicator May 8, 2008
cool idea, but it’s always just been good old chapstick for me, whether we’re in a recession or not.
The Ebb and Flow of Movies: Box Office Receipts 1986-2007 February 26, 2008
http://nytimes.com/interactive/2008/02/23/movies/20080223_REVENUE_GRAPHIC.html
this is one of the coolest things i’ve ever seen. i’ll honestly say that i spent a good 15 minutes scrolling through it.
some interesting things i noticed:
- movies like titanic, which doesn’t even fit on the graph, and my big fat greek wedding, which recorded box office profits for over a year. juno is also interesting, it starts thin and gets thicker, which is against the norm.
- in recent years there have been more highly profitable films. to me, the triple-$300-million-plus-whammy of spiderman 3, shrek the third, and pirates of the caribbean 3 comes to mind
- the pattern of profitable summer blockbusters and christmas/holiday films is clear
my one problem… i wish that when you clicked on the film, the box office revenue came up. make sure you use the search box to find your favorite movies!

i agree that this has ruined her “brand,” but there must be other ways that britney spears can make money.
Dark May Be King, But Milk Chocolate Makes A Move February 13, 2008
i LOVE dark chocolate, but i’ll eat GOOD milk chocolate, too. i’d definitely be interested in trying milk chocolate with different cacao solid percentages.

it never even occurred to me that athletes have to deal with different cuisines in the countries they compete in.
